This is my final week as a District Councillor. Over the past 4 years, I have learnt and achieved an enormous amount. I am particularly proud of my time as Cabinet Member for the Environment and Rural Affairs, the youngest ever cabinet member in the council's 40-year history. As part of the executive of an organisation that employed 400 people with 1/4 of a billion of assets under management, we steered the district out of the pandemic, whilst maintaining services and the lowest council tax rate in the region.
In my portfolio, I secured £871,000 of funding to Level Up Rural Communities, put together a strategy that will get the council Net Zero by 2030 and delivered an innovative partnership with Sussex Wildlife Trust, the council and local land owners which will bring nature restoration to thousands of acres. Whilst supporting farmers and rural businesses with the tools they needed to deliver jobs and prosperity.
As a ward councillor, I have secured investment in my community including upgrades to car parks, new electric vehicle charging and air quality monitoring sensors. I have supported countless residents with planning issues and am proud to have secured new affordable homes for my village.
I am not standing again, since becoming elected I've had two children and am looking forward to spending more time with them over the next couple of years.
For lower council tax and better services, make sure you vote Conservative on Thursday the 4th of May 🗳
