Chanctonbury Game a game processing facility, the last in the South East was potentially facing closure when they were asked to leave their premise in 2021. Chanctonbury Game processes pheasants, rabbits and deer and sells these wholesale, this business is a vital link between those involved in controlling game and the general public.
The two-year planning battle came to an end last week (17th of January) when the planning committee for the fourth time of asking, voted to allow the facility to operate from a new location with conditions around vehicle movements and hours of operation. I have always spoken in favour of keeping this vital rural business open as it ensures the livelihoods of gamekeepers and deer stalkers whilst providing a low-carbon and high-welfare source of protein for the public.
I wish the Chanctonbury Game and its owners every success.
