It was great to visit David Exwood at Westons Farmshop to promote the ‘Buy Local, Shop Happy’ campaign this Christmas. David is a tenant farmer and Vice-President of the National Farmers Union. By buying local you are supporting local people, investing money back into the local economy. David is a prime example, employing dozens of local people whilst providing a vital public service.
The resilience and rate of recovery of our local businesses post the pandemic has been really impressive. We’ve seen several new food businesses start up this Christmas such as the Wiston Estates Chalk restaurant, which will be serving local food to travellers on the South Downs Way.
I would encourage all residents to look local this Christmas as they choose where to by their Christmas meal!
